Messy Hair In The Morning
As a girl, every morning I wake up and one of the first things I do is stand in front of my mirror. Whether it’s to brush my teeth, put in my contacts, or look to see what a good night’s sleep has done to the mess I like to call my hair, I end up staring back at my reflection. That’s when I make the choice to do one of two things: criticize, over analyze, and point out every flaw, or practice telling myself the things I like about what I see. I will be the first to admit I am always tempted to do the first. It is a constant inward battle between the person I want to see and the one I do. The good news is each time it gets a little bit easier. One self-given compliment at a time, your reflection begins to transform into something you like to see. It takes practice and a conscious effort, but if you slowly turn every criticism into a compliment, starting with even just one a day, your reflection will cease to be the thing that ruins your day. You are beautiful, and every “flaw” you see is what everyone else sees as what makes you beautiful, and more than that what makes you you. So I challenge you to challenge your reflection every time you see it, and I promise, it will get better.
