“When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It’s to enjoy each step along the way.”
- Wayne Dyer
Endings and Beginnings
My dear friend, we’re not very different, you and I. Our lives dotted with endings and beginnings. As I stumble through yet another one of these points in my life, I can’t help but reflect on the decisions I’ve made and how those decisions have impacted my life and others around me.
Your endings and beginnings are all about physically moving from place to place, and constantly exploring this great world that we live in. Most recently, mine have been about moving through different companies as I navigate my career.
However different our two lives are, the questions at the core of our decisions, that we ask ourselves, are very much the same.
Is this the right decision?
Do I want to end this path that I’m on and begin a new one?
How will this decision impact my life and the lives of my family and friends?
What will people think?
Unfortunately I’m not that wise and sometimes I find myself on the side of regret. Regretting my decision, or my no decision. If I’m not careful, that regret can consume and overwhelm me. Leading me to believe that any one decision in my life is somehow tied to a belief in myself. This can be devastating if we’re not careful.
Most decisions of course have consequences, but I want you to know what I believe:
I believe that life would be dull without all of our little endings and beginnings.
I believe that our endings and beginnings happen at the right time in our lives.
While some endings can be devastating, I believe that these endings and beginnings are to be cherished.
I believe we can learn so much about ourselves from these endings and beginnings.
I believe that no matter our decisions, we have worth.
I believe that whatever your decisions, I will support you.
- So, let’s continue the dance and cherish the steps.
With Love, Your Friend
