You ever have those days where you just can’t find the motivation to finish that project or do that laundry? Experiencing writer’s block? Maybe it’s just been a bad day altogether. You want to do something but you just can’t figure out what? While I cannot offer you the secret elixir of instant happiness and inspiration, I can offer you the next best thing: step outside.
I know we’ve all heard it before. All those websites that give us advice tell us to “go for a hike”, “exercise”, yada yada yada. I’m here to tell you the exact same thing again. But this time, I’m here to tell you it really works.
If you feel a lack of inspiration or the inability to get productive, all you have to do is change your environment and get your body moving! Studies done by professors at Stanford University have shown that getting outside that walking, no matter the location, increases creative production. However, specifically walking outside in nature actually increases your novelty. Any bit of time in the outdoors is a leap towards productivity and confidence!
So, turn off the television for a bit and go on a little adventure. Visit some of your local parks or take a nice walk through your neighborhood. You could even take your dog with you, as I’m sure he/she would enjoy getting out just as much as you!
You deserve to feel your best. You deserve to find your inspiration. So get outside and treat yourself to a refreshing breath of fresh, outdoor air. Take a break and relish in the beauty of the world around you.
